How to Start With MidJourney And How Much Does it Cost?
Unfortunately, MidJourney is not free but not too expensive either. The good news is that it will allow trial use for up to 25 images generated. The basic paid plan for around 200 images is $10/month or something cheaper if paid yearly. It is still a good price in my opinion.
To start with MidJourney you will need a Discord account. It is a free community chat system. The MidJourney bot works and replies to your prompts in Discord chat.
After creating a Discord account and logging in, you can visit the MidJourney home page and click Sign up. Approve and authorize the connection so that you can see MidJourney’s chat room in your left Discord panel.
This is the Discord channel of MidJourney, notice the white boats logo on the top left. We then need to enter one of the newbie’s rooms, as you can see on the left side. From here we can start sending our prompts.
To do so, we type /imagine prompt: [our prompt] ENTER
The first time you send this command, do not forget to accept the privacy terms. It will not generate anything until you do so.
After the prompt is sent, MidJourney will give us 4 preview options, as in the image above, from which we can choose. U1 to U4 is for selecting which of the images generated we like. The V1 to V4 is for providing 4 more variants based on the corresponding image we like.
After choosing our preferred image, MidJourney will produce the full-size image.
As we can see, there is also another option to upscale even more for a larger image size.
For downloading the image, just click on it to enlarge it and then right and Save As…
Can I Use These Images Freely On My Projects?
Yes, the images are unique and there is no copyright on your own generated images. It might be a good practice to place a statement that the images are AI-generated, but this is not required.
One thing to know though is that the images you create are in the public domain. They will appear in the community feed.
To produce totally private artwork, you must subscribe to the top-tier paid plan on MidJourney.
